Running a Foxconn Empty
PostSubject: Running a Foxconn   Running a Foxconn Icon_minitimeThu May 23, 2013 1:55 pm

Since the 2010 Dell died I got one of the Foxconn computers I built
evidently several years ago now and I got the wrong one. I put the
new OCZ Solid State Hard Drive in it, should have run great. Runs ok,
just slower than the Dell.

Looked and saw it just had 1 gig of ram, I thought it was one stick with
one slot open. Took it out on the porch thinking this thing should fly
now. Took it apart and took out the ram - two 512 sticks that filled
the slots. Took a couple of 1024 (one gig each) ram out of the dead Dell
and they didn't fit. The Foxconn uses the older, slower DDR2.
Oh well, put the two 512 sticks back in. I'm sure the other two have
two gigs of ram. Probably would have run XP better than the Win 7
I installed on the solid state drive.

I've got this one set up now and got some paswords off the Dell
hard drive, guess I'll run this one like it is for now.

Gonna brag on this old Foxconn, I'm still using it. I did find a 1 gig stick of ram
and put it in place of one of the 512 MB sticks for a total of 1.5 gigs. Found
another stick but lost it again, don't remember where I set it aside at.

Fairly snappy with the medium speed solid state drive, quick boot, just a
few niggles. I'd forgotten it had been so long since I got these Foxconn
machines, they use DDR2 for goodness sake but they still serve quite well.
