APEX SK-393-C Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $24

Ordered some cheap thermal paste as well, reckon I'm going to try and
build a new PC that's pretty hot. I've picked out a motherboard and a
AMD processor. I'd like to look at the case before I order those but
might not wait that long.

The Foxconn is running good for the power it has, the SSD really speeds
it up but it only has one gig of ram. Used to having much more on the
Dell and will have even more on the new build.

Looks like I'm going to get the case before anything else which is good,
I need to look at it and see how things fit in and hook up before I start.

Got the first two packages of parts to build the new PC last
evening about dark. Something else required hasn't arrived so
I can't begin to assemble it yet. I opened the box with the
$24 Apex mid tower computer case and got the case out last
night. I'll take the side panel off and have a look a little
later today and see what the inside looks like. Get a little
familiar with it before I begin.

*** Posed the question to experts "Is the square pad on the
CPU a 'thermal pad' or just a pad to protect the surface?"

I expect it's just for protection.

Might get the thermal paste in the mail today, don't know.

I've got it running, runs real well but the CPU fan makes too much noise.
May have to replace the CPU cooler. Temporarily using a slow small and
old refurb hard drive in an enclosure. No hard drive installed right now.
Running Windows 7 Ultimate.

I tried to get a picture of the pretty blue lights around and in the center
of the power button but failed, the flash must have gone off.

The external drive on the right is the one I'm running from, the one on
the left is a USB 2 storage hard drive.

Tore up the AMD processor, the most expensive item. Didn't have the cooler
on right so took it off to put on more thermal paste and the darn AMD
processor stuck to it and came out with it bending some pins. $95!

Got the new processor yesterday evening and put it in.  Using the new
machine to post this now.  Still pretty loud even with the new cooler
and fan.  Oh well, this is it I guess, might set it off the desk.

Just ran an internet speed test here:
