Couldn't find the plug underneath the engine, just turned it upside down
like you do and drained the old oil out.  Thinking about it now, I believe
it's somwhere above the deck now.  Oh well, done.

May have put a little too much oil, hard to tell.  Better less than full
than over full, it can tear it up if you put too much in.
Mowed a little patch before it rained, still not much black to the oil, I
guess it drained good.  I can see it on the yellow stick a little, looks
about right when I roll it on a paper towel, wet place left may be just a
hair more than full, I think its all right.  Raining and dark now, I will look
later to see if I can find the drain plug.

Yeah, changed mine a couple of weeks ago as discussed. I have an old paint tray that I put a garbage bag around and then fill with paper towels. Turn the mower on it's side, pour it out, turn the garbage bag inside out, and done in 2 minutes. It would take longer than that to hoist it up on something and find the plug.
Not the right way but this mower is 9 years old and has had the same Spring treatment every year.

I took mine up to the fire pit with small limbs and other yard debris in
and put it on top of the pile  to drain it.  Gonna be some black smoke
when I burn it now.

I used to use an old teflon skillet with most of the teflon scratched off
but I reckon it got thrown away when Honey decided she didnt like
the stuff I had stored behind the fence and got Rick to clean it up and
throw everything away.  She planted on tiny lemon tree but I have
gravel and stockade privacy fencing and parts stored back there now.
