I didn't ask but I'm sure Honey didn't even ask about any
possible repair of the top when she went to the top shop.
Just got the price of $1600 for a new top.

So, a couple of weeks ago I spent some time examining it
again.  Seam from front to back on the drivers side if just
fine.  The seam on the passenger side is stretched all to
heck and where it met the seam across the back between
the left and right it looked like it might have a place that
would leak.

Got some old chewing gum and chewed out all the sugar,
tore off a small piece and stuck it there.  Tried to push it in
good to maybe get a little squeezed into the maybe hole.
Kept coming off.  Got less than an inch of shiny black
electrical tape and put it on over it.

Still covering it up with a tarp when it rains so hadn't tested
it until yesterday when Honey was out in the rain, came
home and it rained for another hour or so.
Sent her out to check about noon and she said it wasn't very
wet, brought in the towel and blanket she lays in there to
absorb the rain.  I took them out back and hung them on
the chain link to dry but they weren't wet.

Not a permanent cure but I do think I found the trouble spot.
I need some seam sealer like they use on canvas, I think
that would work just fine.

Sounds like some good progress. Seam sealer might very well do the trick!

Ok, the chewing gum I put on the corner did melt finally
and filled it in.

Finally got Honey to pick up a can of Scotchguard upholser
protectand and sealer and got it late yesterday and I took
off the piece of tape and sprayed over that spot and into
the seams and hopefully sealed them.  Scotchguard is a
really good product, hope this works.

We'll see next time we get a downpour.
