Unemployment and Food Stanps

An article I read last week was
"Workers are coming off the bench."
Good title, I don't necessarily recommend it - LINK
As employment picks up and the opportunity to get a job
increase and more workers are needed - they come.
You can't have a job with no employer.

Today I saw another article:
"Up to a Million People Across America Just Lost Access
to Food Stamps" - LINK
Pretty quick response.  The work requirement is back in
place and the emergency is declared over.  Not every
state has responded yet but the south went as a block
as the residents believe it encourages laziness.
Unfortunately some of the states are far from
recovery and food stamp receivers are required to
shit their own job I guess.  Aid never was even over
the nation.

Just my opinion that it all does show the economy is still
improving and things are getting better for most.

Yep, I tend to agree. Some states have recovered more slowly than others and there are many people with good intentions fruitlessly searching for a job. I suspect real unemployment is higher than reported as there are still millions(?) that are underemployed or toiling at jobs well below their abilities/ education.

There will be a curious sociology experiment upcoming I think over the next few years. Many large cities are already moving toward $15 an hour. Will Mcdonalds put in automated machines for order input effectively reducing employment? Will they jack up prices to consumers? If neither, will shareholders be happy with reduced earnings / profits from companies?

I think the minimum wage is too low in general. I also think there's a fine line as to an acceptable standard. At what point do nurses/ teachers. etc. say the heck with this and head to the fast food industry/ Walmart/ etc.? Tracy makes $25 an hour with almost 30 years of experience. She gets a 1% raise a year (they all do at her hospital regardless of performance).

Some argue there should be no minimum wage. Let the market decide based on need/ demand. Interesting concept.
