| I took a man and his sister to look at it yesterday afternoon, they spent a lot of time looking. They want to put a resturant in. I took them to see San about buying some of his equipment. I didn't stay to listen to their conversation. I also gave him your phone no. Don't know if they have contacted you yet or not.

| No, neither of them have contacted me at this time.
The fact that they'd even be checking with San about his equipment doesn't sound promising. The time to have done that was before he moved the equipment out.
The best to come along yet seems to be Richard Eden's interest for his brother to have fireworks there. I don't know who the brother is but the old Eden's Carpet building turned into a business for years where it was never open to the public but did have a bunch of fireworks in there so he's done it before.
I might check with Ron Lewis who called, I believe last year to tell me the neighbors were pretty happy with the way things were going with San there and he said Jerry Hodge was to and I believe Jerry's mother was working there for a while. San's been shut down so long the people there may have already found something else to do though.
I'll be glad to talk to anyone interested, I hate to see the eating place plan go down the tubes but basically I just want a steady source of income. I'm really not interesed in anyone with grand ideas and no money.

| There is one more man who left his name and no. with me who was interested in opening a flea market. I was to let him know when the building was available. His name was Peregory. Red Edens is retired and is looking for something to do. I think he is getting claustrophobic staying at home so much. He does sound like the best bet. As far as the oldtimers are concerned, they would, I think, go back to Central Mkt. It was like Bill Carter's and Pearman's, a place for older people to hang out. It was Jerry"s wife who worked there instead of his mother. Jerry is sorta dementia maimed now. I don't know when San is going to turn the other keys over. He wasn't out there again today when I went by. | |

| A man called yesterday in re to building. He said their church was splitting because the present leadership was too judgemental as related to the young people. I asked him what was their denomination; He said "Holiness Church". He wanted to confer with some of the other men and would get back to me. He is from Central, so I assume he is with the church right below where Ron Lewis lived. You or Rocky mentioned Ron recently, how have you been in touch with him. His mother died in a nursing home a few months back. I am showing the place to a man today at 1:00. I forget what he wanted it for. | |

| Ms. Helen no money - 423-928-0840
Mr. Edwards - 423-926-4755
Ron Lewis called me one night out of the blue and we talked a long time. I think I'll call him first and see if he's on to anything, seems like he's not able to do much but keeps his ear to the ground. Then probably Richard Edens next but I'll ask Ron about what he's doing and up to and about his brother whom I don't know.
Right now, I guess Edwards would be the next after that.
I don't think I want to fool with a church group, at least right now, they'd probably all be calling one at a time. I thought I'd already put Helen's number up once but I didn't see it. Oh well.

| Sounds like there's a few potential candidates. Red has run a business before so he has experience. Of course that never guarantees sucess. | |

It's Red's brother I think but still, yes, they and the foreigner know what's involved and aren't "Oh, I'll just start a business!" I don't need to rush though. Thump

| Here's another candidate: Brown Peregory celll: 423-737-1017 Land:423-610-1017 Purpose: flea market 8-222007 am
I'll add another potential: Richard Davis ph. 213-5095 Said he and his father had been in the meat cutting business for years. He was going to talk to his father about opening a fresh meat place where they cut meat to order. He is going to check into getting the equipment necessary to open and will call again after talking to Pop.

| Yeah, he lives in Central and real close to the market, I don't know for sure where but I think either he or Teresa Littleton lives in Ed Kyte's old house. He's really been screwed up and hasn't worked in a long iime. He still has his mind and his gift for gab though.
Helen called and said she had a contact on some grill equipment but she's holding off if I won't commit and I haven't.
I'd feel a lot better and safer if someone from the good old boys took it and could maybe not worry too much about any comtamination and what would come from that. I don't really know but I'm not going to worry too much about it anyway unless it comes up. It'd probably cost a lot to clean the ground back up and bring it into compliance with whatever is required.

| San came over yesterday evening and said he had cleaned it up and gave me another key. Remembering him saying there were three keys, I asked about the other one. He said he had it somewhere but couldn't find it. I told him if I didn't have all three, the locks would probably have to be changed. I haven't checked out the place yet, haven't had time. He said there was some limbs and wood he hadn't moved yet. He also knew sombody who was going to take the gas tanks out. and he was going to have the weeds bush hogged. He was talking about Ronny and him having a falling out but I told him it had to be a different Ronny Lewis. the one who lives up here, he said , was a big fat guy who was one of the ones who played music in there for a while. San ran them out because they wouldn't leave the aisle clear for customers, even after he told them to. Therefore, I'm sure Ron won't have a good thing to say about San. Evidently neither has a very good reputation. Teresa Littleton has been caught stealing things from people for who she was house cleaning. | |

| I thought I had already posted this but maybe not. I understood the foreigner to say that he had 2 or 3 discount tobacco stores in J.C. and wanted the bldg for that. Of course him being foreign, I might have misunderstood him. | |

| Well he told me convenience store but he might be the best bet. I need to get a deal though with it right out front that I don't think I want to put any money into that building so they can fix things themselves or move if it gets too bad. That's what I told San. I've never been responsible for upkeep and repairs and I'm not going to start now. | |

I'd just guess that the only ones who could afford to fix the roof or the sewage or anything else would be maybe Bert but probably Richard Edens and Mr. Edwards. I'm trying to remember but I think that Richard Edens brother didn't pay Richard his rent when he had the fireworks place.
I reckon I better call Mr. Edwards and see if he'll accept the deal the way I put it with him being responsible for all maintenance and repairs.

| Starting with the foreign guy I see.. Probbaly a good pick given the resumes of the others. Granny would have more thoughts on this than me. If he does have 2 other stores then he's probably alright.
I think I read were you wrote along the way that someone wanted to pull out the gas pumps. Probably a good idea if there's some concern they were leaking at one point. There hasn't been any gas put in them in years so who knows what's there.

| Mom said San had a friend who would take out the gas tanks.
I think I'll pass, it'd call attention to the situation and might trigger some investigation. I really don't want two big holes in the ground either. I expect the best thing is to not stir up a hornet's nest and just let things be. Whatever's left in the tanks that the negroes couldn't get out would just be a drop in the bucket. We'll hold our breath and hope for the best.

| I said it wrong. He was talking about taking the two gas pumps, not the tanks. It would leave a raised triangle of concrete with two holes, which could easily be covered or filled in, with a metal canopy over the concrete rise. Nothing else has been said about it though. Did a woman call you yesterday about renting it? I showed it to her and gave her your no. | |

| Yeah, I put her on the new list above, her name was Melissa and she seemed real nice but didn't have anything to sell and was wanting to start a consignment shop. She said she had a friend that sold something and she would ask her if she wanted to put her stuff in there to and charge her $250 a month. She asked me how that sounded and I said fine but I don't know if you'd make any money at it and she didn't seem too concerned. I told her I'd put her on the list but that there were several more people wanting it and she said ok.

| Well, I don't know why but Mr. Edwards doesn't seem to be available. I was planning on calling him Monday but after I realized it was going to be a holiday I waited until yesterday (Tuesday) to try and call. No answer the first time after 7 or 8 rings and none again later after the second call and 10 rings. I didn't wait to see if an answering machine picked up after the tenth ring so today I let it ring 15 times. If I don't get in touch with him this week I'll pick the next person to call next week. Thump PS: Since he was supposed to have two or three discount tobacco stores in Johnson City, I searched for some ang got this list: The ListThere's one more redi mart when you click next at the bottom, it seems like the biggest one. | |

| Well, I know the extra 500 bucks a month is nice but it looks like you're using sound judgement in taking your time to make sure you get the right person. The foreigner might just work a lot of long hrs but not having an answering machine nowadays seems odd. Maybe fire up the magic jack and call a couple of redimarts? | |

| I got through last nigh and left a message, forgot to leave a phone number though so I got the magicjack running in case he trys to call back to the number he was called from. I don't think he's going to call so I'll start figuring out who I'll call next. If I don't hear anything I'll call someone else next week. Sandra Trent is a new interested person and wants to put a used furniture store.

| I thought of that myself but I doubt they're any relation. This girl is a lost cause and goes way down below Helen no money. She don't get it and wasted quite a bit of time telling me how she might rearrange her budget to be able to pay the rent and the rest, wanting my opinion of how she could do that. I kept telling her that it was up to her. She said she was going to keep her house cleaning business that she work on of the mornings.
I'm going to try again today to contact Mr. Edwards, I left the message and I've heard nothing. He's off the list after today and I'll pick who's next.
UPDATE: 2:30 I got through again, left another message, and I'm done. I'll call someone else Monday if I hear nothing from him until then. I'm done with Mr Edwards unless he calls.
