Garbage disposal started making a helluva racket a few days ago 11 yrs old and one of the blades had broken..Thought about a plumber to replace and then decided what the hell..I'll give it a try. Took me about 3 hrs but finally finished.Nothing is easy it seems.. Plastic Drain pipe supplied was curved and it said must use this one or won't discharge properly if you use the old one. I would have had to replace all the other plumbing to get this curved one to work.. So..said screw it and used the old one..Appears to be working fine but will check for leaks often for awhile. Oh yeah, had to hacksaw off about an inch of the old pipe as it wouldn't go back in place..Not sure how it ever fit.

Congratulations on getting it fixed, sounds like something I would
do. I hope it works fine for a long time. I would've used the old
one myself instead of redoing everything. I would have tried real
hard to get it back together without sawing it off though. You can
pull them apart pretty far without breaking them and you got it
loose without sawing it. If I'd have had to cut it I would have
though.

The strap on the flopper in by comode broke on the end that
connects to the handle and it didn't have a way to attach anything
else. I went out on the back porch and looked around and found
the old power supply that was bad that we took out of Curly's
old Dell and cut a wire off it and wrapped it tightly around the
part that was left about four wraps and tied it to the handle.
It wouldn't flush the first time so I untied it and streached it
a little tighter and it works better than it did before now. I hope
that lasts a while to.
