Safely Remove...

I think I've found a winner, for me anyway.

Remove thumb drives quickly

It opens a window on your desktop showing all the drives connected to your USB
ports. Just click one to remove it safely. Or, press the corresponding letter on your
keyboard. No more annoying dialog boxes and messages!

USB Disk Ejector even works with external hard drives, iPods and other USB
gadgets.

It doesn't install, just works and can run from a USB stick. I put it on my desktop but
won't use it often so moved it into "Stuff". I clicked it and it had my external hard
drive immediately (all I had hooked up). I haven't actually removed anything yet
though.
