Opera Unite: a Web server on the Web browser
Found this a few minutes ago and I might try it on the emachine with the dying
hard drive:

With Opera 10, we are introducing a new technology called Opera Unite, radically
extending what you are able to do online. Opera Unite harnesses the power of
today's fast connections and hardware, allowing all of us to help define the future
landscape of the Web, one computer at a time. Read about how Opera Unite is
going to change the way we interact on the Web on labs.opera.com.

File Sharing:
A simple and safe way to share files directly from your computer.

Fridge:
A fun place for people to leave notes on your computer.

Media Player:
Access your complete home music library from wherever you are

Photo Sharing:
Share your personal photos with friends around the world without the need to
upload them.

The Lounge:
Invite your friends to a chat in The Lounge hosted on your computer

Web Server:
Host your Web sites running from your own computer.

Looks like Opera has upped the ante for web browsers.. Not sure how they will try to regulate them as far as peer to peer music sharing? Some of the reviews though make it sound a little buggy still.

There's no regulation involved, it's unregulated. I was disappointed with the offerings
and there's nothing new here. Everything they offer is already available. They didn't
look as good as they sounded and I've quit now but was setting it up on the eeePC.
For file sharing Keven said:
"File Sharing, I would probably use FTP for that. So Filezilla, set up time about a minute. "
but Kevin knows how so it'd take us a little longer. You have to set up your own group of
people to share with though or get in somebody else's group. That's how Jordan shared all
the files with me that he did. I really ought to try and set one of those up.
