I'd be happy to help by putting his wares online.

It seems like there's a pretty formidable barrier on his part though.
He'd have to learn to use a computer and type a little. Get an email
account and a paypal acount and his own button code to add to a
page. If he doesn't get encripted code one would be enough and I
could change it to any other item.

I'm not sure it would be worth the effort for him, don't know if he'd sell
anything online or not but it'd be nice to have his stuff online so people
could see it in case they were thinking about something but wanted to
see a picture first.

He wouldn't have to get a domain if he was happy with www.thumpnet.com/Danny
or whatever. Domains don't really bring anyone in just because you have
one. He can get on for about $10 from namecheap if he wanted to and
Microsoft gives one free for one year to anyone who applys as a small business.
It's about $15 a year after that if you keep it. They also give you a whole lot
of free web space for his site if he wanted it. No charge but he'd have to get
a Windows Live or Hotmail account.

If he's not inclined and is pretty happy with the way things are now, maybe
we shouldn't even encourage him to take it on. No guarantee of success.

Thanks Thump.. I'll get back to you in a month or so when his store gets closer to opening. I think he'll want to do something simple with a one page site, his picture, "we buy gold and repair all types of jewelry with 27 yrs of experience", etc. He'll have a limted inventory and I doubt he'll want to hassle with keeping it updated online.

Ok, if he's not going to sell online then he doesn't need a paypal account.
If he just wants a front page he probably should get a domain then.
Here's a link to Microsoft's free Office Live Small Business:
http://smallbusiness.officelive.com/en-us/

I tried to get Curly to get one, you know MIcrosoft is more dependable than
the server company I bought service from. He was afraid to he said but I
think it just seemed too complicated to him and he'd rather I do everything.

They've got templates, here's one I made without a domain, just using
the non domain path. I just put Little Shop of Games on it and didn't change
the rest:http://lsogpinballs.parks.officelive.com/default.aspx

And here's a real page I put on it:
http://lsogpinballs.parks.officelive.com/Documents/tour.html

Yeah, that Microsoft domain site looks easy enuff. I might just make him one when he gets closer to opening.
Thanks Thump.
