Sliding Glass Patio Door Empty
PostSubject: Sliding Glass Patio Door   Sliding Glass Patio Door Icon_minitimeThu Jan 28, 2016 1:12 pm

Cindy's friend Dan came down to spend a couple of months
with her. He had me check out his laptop since he'd stupidly
updated to Windows 10 and can't undo it. Said it was slow
and it was but it's just 10, nothing wrong with it. I gave him
a few new things to get around in it.
Anyway he volunteered to haul a new sliding glass door for us.
I may get him to do that before he goes back in March.

I told him Honey would have to pick one out, she said I'd
have to go. I'd sent her to get one about 3 times but she
never got one. I started looking at Home Depot online and
found a couple of patch kits. Ordered one, a stainless steel
strip that snaps on over the old beaten up track. Less that
$15 but it was 8 foot long, cut to fit so I had it sent to me for
$5+ more 'cause Honey couldn't have gotten it in the car.

I'll order a new hacksaw and blades at Walmart and they'll
probably get here before the strip does. I've thought about
it so long I don't care to spend the money just to see it.
Probably get a whole new door anyway or at least a new door
for $125 if the strip works ok or put the strip over the track
if I ever get a whole new door put in just to protect the new
track that comes with the whole door.

They have another kit for about $32 dollars that replaces
wheels with a teflon impregnated teflon and to sliders to go
on the door but probably wouldn't work with the track
replacement, may get one anyway just to look at it.

I thought you had remedied the sliding glass door awhile back. Apparently not I see. Sounds like you did your research. Yeah, I'd start with the new strip and see how it goes. Did I read that right that a new door would only be $125. I figured they were much more expensive than that but I haven't had a need to price one.

That's not a complete unit, just one sliding glass door with handle
and wheels.  No new track, not stationary glass door.

The complete replacement unit with everything new is
$299.99 up.

Yeah, got interested in how the system is set up to screw
people and am spending much more time than I need to
without much personal gain.  Just looking for the best answer
for anyone, not just my circumstances.
