Routers

I know we talked about routers awhile back and possibly even getting a wireless extender.
I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a Archer C9 dual band router on Amazon for $100 bucks.

Unbelievable how that is working..

Here's my speed test numbers with the old Cisco Valet vs. the C9..

Dining room - 17.8 Mbps before , 59.48 after
Living Room - 14.2 before, 61.93 after
Back Porch - 4 sorry ass Mbps prior , 23 Mbps after. Wireless was almost worthless before and now I'm quite speedy outside in my chair!

Evidently the Cisco was faulty someway.
Mine was working great when the lightning hit it
and fine after if I just plugged in the internet into the
"out" hole that didn't have anything plugged in when it
was hit.

And I remember that when you first got the Cisco, you said it
was great but could be faster on the porch.  The one
you had before wasn't doing anything on the porch.
Funny way to fail.

Congratulations!  Did you get AC or just N?
I know the tower doesn't use AC and the laptop
probably doesn't either.  They'll still work but just not
at AC speeds.

Yeah, It's a dual band AC. It also has 3 external antennas you can adjust to point toward where you primarily want the signal headed. Gone mine set up to look like it's shooting you the bird.. Middle one straight up and the other 2 bent down ..lol

That Cisco was 7 years old and they have made some big strides I thing since then.
