Seven simple steps for setting up Windows 7 (Article)
By Woody Leonhard

When you're the designated alpha geek for your family, friends — and maybe
the office, too — you know certain duties come with the territory.

One of those duties is setting up new PCs. Here's my quick-and-easy checklist
of tasks to do it right.

From Windows Secrets Free Version. We develop our own over time but I like to
check for anything new. This is very similar to what I do myself but still leaves the
PDF reader up in the air. Indicates that it can be installed without crapware ask.com
installing everywhere. I use the portable but have to set the file association by hand
when I use Foxit Reader but usually just use Sumatra that comes with Portable Apps.

I'm gonna try to install foxit in a virtual machine today but I haven't been able to get
by the crapware yet since they changed it.

hahah..Starts out like you wrote the article yourself.. PC decrapifier, etc. Might try the lastpass application at home. Weary of trying it on my laptop as the Siemens intranet hates extra stuff like this. Probably won't even let me install it.

Update on Foxit Reader - I tried it again with XP in a virtual machine and it
installed perfectly with the CNET download and didn't even offer to install
any crap so I guess it's back on my list of best programs. Great lightweight
PDF reader, much better than big heavy clunky Adobe Reader.

Yeah, it's the view all experts have and is the same thing I say but
maybe he says it better. Just a little different way to tell the same
truths.
