Windows 8

Looks like Softy is going to unveil Windows 8 today..You going to try and get one of those beta/ tester versions?

I'm not going to buy in. Maybe much later to get free ones to use but not now.
I'll almost surely test it when they release the beta to the public and probably
get a copy someone leaks before then. Not sure how many beta versions
there'll be this time around.

I'm not interested at all in the "Tiles" that load by default but it has a regular
desktop underneath you can turn on, I won't to see the improvements in that
and I want to see how the built in hypervisor works to let you boot to a
virtual machine. Supposed to be able to boot to them in Windows 7 but it's
so complicated I haven't tried to set it up yet (well, once or twice trying to
do it another way).

Update. Trying to get a copy now. I'm not a paid MSDN member but I found their
download site. I think a lot of other people found it to and it's just barely crawling.
If they don't catch me or the computer doesn't got down for some reason I should
have it sometime tomorrow. Or not, who knows.

Well, I can't get it to install in a virtual machine, Page with snips of the attempt
I have the limit or 4 primary partitions on this hard drive already, mine and three
Dell put on here so I might just switch to a new 1 terabyte drive (1,000 gigs) so
I can install it for real. Darn Dell, they don't even put in hard drive cages, just
bolt the one on the back of the case so I'll have to take the one that's in there
out to use the new one. Not sure when I'll get to it.

Up and running in Virtualbox. The install failed a few times first but it's up and
running now. Got a page with some screenshots - Page With Pics

Don't care for it so far but I know it's not finished, just manly the kernal and enough to
try and get developers to write Apps for it before it's released.

Doesn't look too bad. I kinda like the tiles myself. Several articles on the net saying they finally got it right and it should push Apple more. I guess we'll see. Thanks for the pics!
