Broadband security

Called up Protect America who I have my security system with and inquired about broadband monitoring. The new control box was $309 but they had a promotion for $209. Ordered one as you get a 40 day free trial. Connects to your router and sounded easy enough to hook up. Will set it off a few times a week for the first month and if I'm satisfied, will cancel my AT&t landline phone. It's only purpose in life is to subject us to constant telemarketing. Won't take long to pay for itself as my phone bill is $28 a month even if we don't touch the damn thing!

Sounds good, time to cut the cord. Couldn't you just plug the old setup into the magic jack
and leave a computer on for it when you need it? I ought to get rid of our landline again
but here comes hurricane season again. We don't even have a phone that does't need
electricity though so it wouldn't do us any good if the power was off again.

Just fire up the magic jack when you're home, you don't need a landline anyway when
you're not home. I'll have to get Mom a magic jack if she gets broadband.
